Kid Cartoonists is a weblog created by cartoonist Bob Weber Jr. for anyone under the age of 18 to submit and display their artwork online.

Weber, who creates the daily and Sunday comic strip Slylock Fox and Comics for Kids, receives an enormous amount of fan mail each week. Most of the letters and emails contain drawings from children, who are hopeful to have their art picked as one of the chosen few that are published in the strip. Since he can only select two drawings to feature in Slylock Fox and Comics for Kids each week, Weber wanted to find a way to utilize the hundreds of drawings that weren’t selected for publication. After much deliberation, Weber decided to create a website where children can post their drawings online for everyone to see. Under each picture, Weber includes an encouraging comment and uplifting affirmation.

“I wanted to create a positive atmosphere online where children could direct their family and friends to view the drawings that they put so much love, time and effort in creating,”

Weber said.

“KidCartoonists.com is an online home for what many cartoonists call ‘refrigerator art.’ When the art is online, it doesn’t get weathered and can live beautifully online for posterity.”

Slylock Fox and Comics for Kids is one of the most popular children’s strips in the world. Distributed by King Features Syndicate to more than 400 newspapers worldwide, the strip features the adventures of Slylock Fox, a non-violent fox who solves problems through logic and reasoning.

Slylock Fox and Comics for Kids is geared for young readers but also has found a following with comics fans who are young at heart. The strip includes mysteries, visual puzzles, how-to-draw lessons, gags and information on nature, pet care, safety, history, geography, self-esteem, conservation, the environment and more.
